Mixing African prints
Hi, welcome back to my “blog” (smiles hard and then a slow montage of me with a very cool song). *Winks* hahaha
Have you ever wondered how people pull off mixing two different Ankara prints and still manage to steal the show?
Hey, what am I here for but to give the best tips to slay and stay fashion forward. I will answer this question and more.
Mixing African Prints made easy
For the longest people have always ran away from mixing prints, but in the past year I’ve seen a lot of people embrace it. So here is a quick and easy guide.
Guide
- Keep your eye on the print:
- The print in question is the dominant print, you cannot have two dominating prints, one has to accentuate the other.
- It can also be that you are working with the same exact print but two contrasting colours.
- Birds of the same colour flock together:
- There has to be a unifying colour or colours. You can’t go crazy and just pick random Ankara pieces from your closet. The best way to marry the two Ankara patterns together is if they have a dominating colour in common.
